website design package standard features

Our bespoke website design and template website design packages include a number of standard features and benefits, offering fantastic value for money.

Although these features and benefits are offered as standard, they're also flexible; so if you don't need some of the standard features (perhaps you've already organised your hosting or domain name registration) we can either replace them with one of our website design optional extras or simply remove them from the package and charge you less. design, build and validation

Depending on the package you've chosen, we'll either create a bespoke website template to your specifications or we'll customise one of our in-house website templates. Either way, the template will be built using W3C-validated XHTML with a separate W3C-validated CSS style sheet so that your website reflects your brand visuals. We’ll test the template in these browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari. We'll also create and upload a favicon for your website.

We'll build and upload up to five pages to your website, and populate them with your own text and images (if you want us to write your copy and source/edit images for you, we'll do this at very competitive rates - please see our optional extras page for details). We'll also build a customised error page for your website.

We'll proof read your copy and make suggestions for improving it, so that it's optimised for both human beings and search engines. And if you opt to supply your own images - we'll edit them for you (for example, resizing and cropping) at no further charge.

domain name registration

We'll register your domain name for you, working from your brief to register the domain name of your choice if it's available. You will retain full ownership of your domain name - we'll only be listed as the technical contact, not the owner, but you'll be able to change this later if you want to.

If you choose a .co.uk domain name, this will be registered for two years, and we'll send you a renewal invoice just before the appropriate anniversary. If you choose a .com domain name, this will be registered for one year, and again we'll send you a renewal invoice just before the appropriate anniversary.

The cost of renewing your domain will be approximately £9 per year (.com) or £9 every two years (.co.uk) - these prices are the current prices of our preferred domain name registration and hosting provider, so they may be subject to change. We don't add any commission to these fees.

hosting

Included in the package price is one year's hosting of your website on a shared server at a UK datacentre. Just before each anniversary of setting up your hosting package, we'll send you a renewal invoice to cover the following year's hosting. The cost of renewing your hosting package will be approximately £35 per year - again, this price is the current fee charged by our hosting providers and is subject to change, and we don't charge any commission.

email accounts and forwarders

We'll set up your email accounts and forwarders for you, and provide all relevant access details and passwords in your welcome document.

Google account and tools

If you don't already have one, we'll create a Google account for you. Once this is done we'll also set up a Google Analytics account, and add tracking code to your website template so that once your site is live and receiving visitors, you'll be able to measure your website's most popular pages, number of visitors, number of page views and heaps of other statistics that will help you to keep track of your visitors.

Once your website is live, we'll also create a Google Webmaster Tools account for you. We'll then let Google know that your website is live, so that it can start including your pages in its index, and then we'll hand the account back to you so that you can monitor your inbound links, Google crawl statistics and other important information that tells you how your website is doing in Google's search engine results.

downloadable documents

If you have a file, such as a PDF brochure, a Word document, a PowerPoint presentation or a spreadsheet, that you'd like to offer your visitors for download, we'll upload this to the server for you and link to it from the page of your choice.

search engine optimisation

Included in the price of your website is basic on-page search engine optimisation (SEO), which helps search engines to accurately read your pages and include them in search results.

We'll also proof read any copy you provide, and make suggestions for optimising it for both humans and search engines.

social networking and bookmarking

If you want one, we’ll include a customised ‘add to any‘ button to every page, so that visitors to your site can share any pages they've found useful on a large number of social networking/bookmarking sites including Twitter, Facebook, Delicious etc as well as by email.

If you use Twitter, we can also include a Twitter gadget of your choice, if you want – for example, a ‘follow me’ button from twitterbuttons.com, a ‘number of times tweeted’ button from tweetmeme.com, a twittercounter.com button or a ‘latest tweet’ widget from twitter.com.

welcome document

Once you've paid our final invoice, we'll send you a personalised welcome document which explains how to access your email accounts online, how to set up your email accounts in Outlook, and how to log into your domain registration and hosting control panels.

Our welcome document also contains all the passwords you'll need for accessing any accounts we've set up on your behalf, for example Google, hosting, webmail etc.

promotion

Once your new website has gone live, we'll send a tweet to our Twitter followers, with a link to your website, helping you to get your first few visitors, and share the link on our Facebook page.

We may also ask you to take part in a case study for our website or our blog. If you agree, the case study will include a link to your website, using your chosen keyword/phrase as anchor text.

what you need to provide

You'll need to provide your own content (text and images); if you'd like debbidoo to write your website copy or source and edit images, you can order these as optional extras at discounted rates.

free support

Subject to a reasonable use policy, which is explained in our website design terms and conditions, we'll provide ongoing support for your website at no additional cost.

Why?

Open Mind's prices offer great value for money, which is always a bonus. But what really impresses us about Open Mind Hosting is the amazing customer service. They answer questions quickly, are very friendly, and bend over backwards to keep customers happy.

We don't charge commission on the hosting and domain name registration fees charged by Open Mind. So if they charge us £35.25 to host your website for a year, that's exactly what we'll charge you too.

if you've already organised your domain name registration and/or hosting

...no worries! Just provide us with the relevant login details, and we'll work with whatever account you've already set up.

And don't forget - if you've already organised hosting and/or domain name registration, we can replace this part of our web design packages with one of our optional extras, or simply remove these features from your website design package and charge you less.
